xCELLigence - Label-Free Cellular Analysis

Cambridge Bioscience, in collaboration with ACEA Biosciences offers the impedance-based xCELLigence and iCELLigence systems. These systems monitor cellular processes such as cell proliferation, cytotoxicity, adhesion, viability, invasion, functional signalling and migration in real time without the incorporation of labels or reporters.

The xCELLigence and iCELLigence systems utilise electronic cell sensor array technology by measuring electrical impedance across micro-electrodes embedded in the bottom of tissue culture E-Plates.

Comparing xCELLigence & iCELLigence Against Traditional End-Point Assays
The xCELLigence and iCELLigence systems offer clear and significant advantages over traditional end-point assays. By utilising label-free assays, the xCELLigence and iCELLigence systems allow physiologically relevant assays to be performed, saving time, labour and resources. The full length of an assay is also represented fully using these systems making it possible to make informed decisions with respect to the timing of certain experimental manipulations or treatments in comparison to the inflexibility of traditional end-point assays. Unlike the traditional assays, the biological status of cells can be monitored by looking at the kinetic response of the cells within an assay before or after a treatment.

Innovative Research Award - $3000 Travel Grant
In recognition of the innovative, novel and high impact research being conducted with the xCELLigence and iCELLigence RTCA systems, ACEA Biosciences is offering an Innovative Research Award. Every quarter, ACEA Biosciences will offer a travel grant to a maximum value of $3000 to researchers utlising the xCELLigence and iCELLigence RTCA systems who are both the author of a submitted abstract and presenter at either a poster or podium session attending a scientific conference. Maximum consideration will be placed on the applications that address significant scientific problems and have wide applicability.
