中国科学院心理研究所前身为创建于1929年的中央研究院心理研究所,1951年重建。作为我国唯一的国家级心理学综合性研究所,主要研究心理活动发生、发展规律及其神经和遗传基础。从生物、个体、社会三个层次和个体毕生发展过程,对人类心理和行为进行综合、系统研究,为提高我国人口素质和心理健康水平、促进社会和谐稳定及经济发展服务。
心理所现有职工150人,科研人员和技术人员共127人,包括研究员23人,副研究员30人。其中,第三世界科学院院士1人,百人计划入选者4人,国家杰出青年基金获得者1人,“新世纪百千万人才工程”入选者2人。心理所目前有研究生228人,其中博士生105人,硕士生123人。在所内进行研究的博士后17人。
心理所目前设有心理健康院重点研究室、认知与实验心理学研究室、发展与教育心理学研究室、社会与经济行为研究中心、行为遗传学研究中心和危机干预中心六个研究室。各研究室、中心主要研究领域分别为:

心理所建立了四个研究平台,包括认知与实验研究平台、行为研究平台、行为遗传学研究平台、生理心理学研究平台。并支持覆盖全国的核磁共振使用网络。中国心理科学信息中心综合服务系统包括图书馆及网络中心。心理所图书馆为全国馆藏最为丰富的心理学专业图书馆,藏书5万余册,可利用的心理学相关数据库超过50种。心理所网络中心为充分开发利用心理科学信息资源、促进信息交流与共享、提升科研管理水平提供网络信息服务平台。
2002年至今,心理所承担了多项国家重点基础研究发展规划(973)项目、国家自然科学基金重点项目、国家高技术研究发展计划(863)项目的科研工作,取得一批重要科研成果,发表大量科技论文,其中包括重要SCI/SSCI/EI论文。
心理所还出版两本心理学期刊,包括《心理学报》和《心理科学进展》。其中与中国心理学会合办的《心理学报》,反映我国心理学研究水平,在中国心理学界享有最高声誉,在国际上也有一定影响。心理所主办、国内外公开发行的《心理科学进展》,主要反映心理学各领域的最新研究进展。
在国际交流方面,心理所积极频繁地与国际学术结构和外国研究机构进行学术交流及合作。心理所与University of Michigan (美国)、University of Minnesota (美国)、Rutgers University (美国)、National Institute of Drug Abuse (美国)、Nijmegen University (荷兰)、University of Adelaide (澳大利亚)、Saarland University (德国)、University of Stockholm (瑞典)、Miami University (美国)等国际知名大学和研究机构建立了长期的友好联合研究、学术交流的合作关系。
心理所的发展战略为:坚持“政通人和、团结奋进、创新发展、共享辉煌”的办所方针,以“实现心理学完整价值链”为中心任务,注重心理学研究的中国特色,争取在重要的心理科学前沿领域取得突破性进展,为“人口与健康”和“社会稳定与发展”的国家战略目标服务,逐步建设成为国内领先的心理学研究单元、中央政府重要的思想库、全国人民了解心理学的一面旗帜、全国心理学研究和心理学服务的源头、国际心理学界著名的研究所。
The Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was reconstructed in 1951. Its predecessor was the Institute of Psychology, Academia Sinica founded in 1929. Being the only national research institute in psychology in China, the Institute of Psychology carries out a wide range of research in the following fields: comprehensive and systematic studies of the human mind, neural and genetic basis of basic psychological functions, individual and social aspects of human development through life-span. The Institute is committed to a broad mission of excellence in research to improve well being and mental health of Chinese people; to promote the economic, social, and harmonious development of China.
The Institute has presently employed 150 staff,including 127 researchers and technicians, among them 23 are professors and 33 associate professors. Among these professors, 1 is entitled the member of the Third World Academy of Sciences, 4 the Hundred Talents Program of CAS, 1 the winner of the National Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 2 the New Century Outstanding Support Program. In addition, there are 228 graduate students (including 105 Ph.D. candidates and 123 Master students) and 17 postdoctoral scientists working at the Institute.
At present, the Institute is composed of six divisions, such as the division of Developmental and Educational Psychology, Cognitive and Experimental Psychology, CAS Key Laboratory of Mental Health, Social and Economic Behavior, Behavioral Genetics, and Crisis Intervention. Current and on-going research projects include, but are not limited to, the following topics:
Development and Educational Psychology: cognitive development and creativity, emotional development and socialization of children, behavioral problems and mental health in children, brain and behavior genetics, and curriculum development and educational experiments;
Cognitive and Experimental Psychology: perception, attention, learning, memory, language, thinking, and decision-making processes, and the role of emotion in the cognitive processes. The research methods include virtual reality, eye movement tracking, functional brain imaging and behavioral observation.
Mental Health: psychoneuroimmunology, drug addiction and its underlying neural mechanism, central neural coding for pain and affect, neuropsychology for mental health and psychiatric illnesses, relationship between stress and mental diseases, symbiotic microbes and behavior, psychosomatic illness, protection of brain function, personality and psychological assessment, and healthy aging.
Social and Economic Behavior: decision-making under risk, social interactive behavior, economic decision-making and consumer behavior; brand management, work teams, leadership, safety culture, and work well-being; social alarming system, psychological harmony, and interpersonal trust & credibility.
Behavior Genetics: systematic analysis of the inheritance and evolution of human psychological behavior, such as the development of personality characteristics, psychological and mental disorders and related behavior; mechanism of environmental factors in regulation of complex behavioral via epigenetic modification, such as DNA methylation; histone modification; non-coding RNA; employment of transgenic animal models to simulate the complex human behavior and to explore the molecular mechanism underlying such behavior.
Crisis Intervention: clinical interventions after major disasters; professional training on crisis intervention; research on mechanisms of mental diseases after major disasters; research on intervention programs and techniques, intervention for people in special needs, and public education of disaster-related mental health.
In the Institute, there are also four research platforms, including Cognitive and Experimental Psychology Study Platform, Physiological Psychology Study Platform, Behavioral Study Platform, and Behavioral Genetics Study Platform. The Institute is also affiliated with a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Network (covering national wide, including mainland China and Hong Kong area, more than 70 facilities), and Service System of China Info Center for Psychological Science. The psychology library of the Institute is the largest one of the king in China, holding more than 50,000 books, and more than 50 psychology related databases. The Institute Network Center provides an excellent platform to facilitate information exchange and improve research management.
Since 2002, the Institute has undertaken the scientific research tasks of a number of major programs such as the National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), major programs of the National High-tech Research and Development Program (863 Program), and the National Natural Science Foundation of China etc. The Institute has up to now published a great many quality scientific articles in SCI/SSCI/EI journals.
Also, there are two leading journals of psychology in Chinese, The Acta Psychologica Sinica, published by the Institute and jointly with the Chinese Psychological Society, reflects the psychology research standard of the country, and holds high prestige at national and international levels, and The Advances in Psychological Science, sponsored by the Institute, introduces the latest research progresses in various domains of psychology both nationally and internationally. These two journals are the top-level psychological journals in China.
The Institute is constantly and actively pursuing overseas scientific exchange and international research cooperation. The Institute has established friendly long-term and regular exchange programs with many international renowned universities and institutes, such as, University of Michigan (USA), University of Minnesota (USA), Rutgers University (USA), National Institute of Drug Abuse (USA); Nijmegen University (Netherlands); University of Adelaide (Australia); Saarland University (Germany); University of Stockholm (Sweden); and Miami University (USA), etc..
The strategic plan for the development of the Institute of Psychology stresses: “Stability and Harmony, Solidarity and Progress, Innovation and Development, Sharing and Prosperity”. The Institute’s central task is to “achieve the comprehensive objectives of psychological science” by emphasizing Chinese characteristics in psychological research, and striving for breakthroughs in frontier areas of psychology. The Institute serves the national strategic objectives of “Population and Health” and “Social Stability and Development”, and aims to gradually develop into a leading research institution in China, a “think tank” for the governments, a platform for understanding psychology, a resource center for psychological research and service, and an world renowned psychology research institute.
