该产品在金相试样制备过程中，试样的预磨，是抛光前必不可少的前道工序，先将试样预磨光后，可大大提高试样制备的功效，YM-1A预磨机，是通过多方面的调研和采集多方面使用人员的意见及要求设计而成，为适应更多材料预磨的需要，该机的磨盘直径大于国内同类产品，磨盘的转速也不同于国内产品，是试样预磨的极佳设备。工作原理：先由清水通过水管不断流入旋转的磨盘中，这时浮在水面的砂纸在旋转磨盘离心力的作用下，将砂纸下的水抛出盘外，形成真空，大气压便将砂纸紧紧地压在磨盘上，即可进行预磨工作，当磨盘旋转停止后即失去这种作用，此时砂纸便可自由取下。
