Tenax-TA is a porous polymer resin of 2,6-diphenylfuran. It is widely used in the adsorption collection of volatile or semi-volatile substances in gases, liquids and solids. It can also be used for volatiles in samples with high humidity. And as a filling material, it is designated for many standard analysis methods of the US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and NIOSH. Used in conjunction with a short-range thermal desorption system, volatiles at ppb and ppt levels can be detected.
Haohan Chromatography (Shandong) Applied Technology Development Co., Ltd. established a thermal desorption-gas chromatography method for the determination of benzene series in ambient air through the adsorption of benzene series with Tenax-TA adsorption tube. A thermal desorption instrument with secondary desorption function is used to determine benzene series. When the sampling volume is 3 L, the detection limit reaches 5×10~(-5)mg/m~3, and the accuracy is measured within the given range of the standard sample. Inside, the benzene series sample can be retained in the Tenax-TA adsorption tube for 12 d. The method has high sensitivity, good reproducibility, accuracy and reliability, simple operation, and is suitable for the detection of benzene series in ambient air.
