Modular real-time Imaging Systems

The TILL Imaging Systems are the systems approach to fluorescence imaging, i.e. the combination of specifically made and specifically selected, matching components with an imaging software that supports the most advanced and complex experiments.
As a microscope for a TILL Imaging Systems you can use our iMIC or choose one from one of the major brands (Leica, Nikon, Olympus or Zeiss). A list of supported microscopes can be found here.

 

With its standalone DSP controller unit the TILL Imaging System is a highly precise real-time imaging system. This puts you in direct control of your experiments and minimizes photobleaching and phototoxisity. This is achieved by shutting off the light source during the acquisition of images.

Imaging MICroscopy redefined

The iMIC Digital Microscope series is a fully motorized digital imaging platform, ideally suited for software controlled, automated screening, laser scanning and PC-based microscopy.
At TILL Photonics we not only talk to scientists, we also work with them − at the workbenches of the BioImaging Zentrum (BIZ) of the University of Munich.
As a result of this dialog, we have distilled the essence of microscopy into a novel platform concept, trimming away everything that does not facilitate the highest possible degree of integrated MICROSCOPY.

Imaging Systems

System components

  • Choose one of our light sources, depending on your requirments:
  • The Polychrome V - a monochromator-based flexible excitation light source.
  • The Oligochrome - a bright and highly stable filter based wavelength switching device.
  • An optimized coupling (condenser) from the light source to the microscope.
  • A CCD-camera of your choice. A list of supported CCD-cameras can be found here.
  • The DSP driven imaging control unit - ICU - for the highly precise timing in microsecond time frames.
  • Imaging software Live Acquisition.
  • An imaging workstation - high end PC.

Optionally the system can be combined with a RAPP UV-flash, a TIRF condenser or a photometry system. Further hardware like filter wheels, emission beam splitters, are either supported directly or via the flexible interfacing of the imaging system controller board.

Application examples

  • Measurement of intracellular ion concentration (calcium, magnesium, potassium, pH etc.) with ratiometric dyes (fura-2, furaptra, BCECF etc.) or single wavelength dyes (calcium green, fluo-3 etc.). Read more about Ca2+-Imaging here.
  • Measurement/obseration of processes (e.g. vesicel fusion) with fluorescent dyes near the cell membranes using the TIRF technology.
  • Combined measurement of, for example, calcium and GFP.
  • Multi-Color imaging of different fluorescent proteins (e.g. CFP/YFP double labeled cells).
  • A software extensions for 3 channel FRET is also available.
