There are approximately 3gadolinium atoms per Protein A unit and the molecular weight of the product is~ 44k Da.Protein A is a 42 kDa surface proteinoriginally found in the cell wall of the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus. Ithas found use in biochemical research because of its ability to bindimmunoglobulins from many mammalian species. It binds the heavy chain withinthe Fc region of most immunoglobulins and also within the Fab region in thecase of the human VH3 family.
