红外线是一种电磁波，它以光的速度传递能量。太阳带给地球的能量主要就是通芝红外线传递。在光谱分布中，红外线的波长范轩是从0.76um到1000um，通常又被分为三个波段：智波（0.76~1.4um），中波（1.4~3.1um），和长波（3um~1000um）。
